The History of HRA - Helping Restore Ability
Helping Restore Ability was originally named "Arlington Handicapped Association" and was founded in Arlington, Texas in 1977 by Sam Provence along with John Dycus and friends. They had the belief that all people with physical disabilities have the right to participate fully in society and to live independent and active lives with dignity, respect and care.
Today, HRA maintains that very same belief and has expanded their services to include the entire state of Texas (primarily Dallas, Tarrant and surrounding counties). HRA's mission is simple: To promote independence and enrich the lives of those we serve.
Currently HRA provides, thru our many programs, service to over 800 clients
(state-wide) with severe physical
disabilities, including senior citizens with age related disabilities.
Care includes assistance with basic daily living skills, such as:
Since 1990, HRA has been the only independent non-profit agency in Texas providing Consumer Managed Personal Attendant Services.
These services are provided for those who may not have the finances to pay for such services. With HRA's assistance, people who would otherwise most likely be dependent on institutions for care can stay self-sufficient with dignity.
